I had a few things to celebrate this past week and I definitely kept myself busy with celebrating! First-it was my birthday, second-it was my hubby’s birthday, and third-I launched this blog! Whoo! In celebration of all these events and in lieu of turning 33, as an 80’s baby, I HAD to choose Madonnarama at the House of Yes! A Madonna themed 80’s party! How fun does that sound?!
The moment we walked in we were greeted by the symphonic sounds of “Justify My Love.” And that was the exact nature of the crowd-Love. All around.
As I made my way to meet my sister (who was letting loose in all her 80’s attire) I was showered with smiles and compliments on my “Like A Virgin” inspired ensemble. There was nothing else to do but show that love right back! It was amazing to see the variety of Madonna’s there! Men, women dressed alike! Gender appropriation had no business under that roof that night! With all the ugly taking place in society, inside these walls we were all beautiful. We were humans……just humans with a common love for The Queen. Exerting the love from within us and spreading it to others around us like pixie dust in the hopes that we can disperse those good vibes beyond the walls. It was like every stranger became family that night. Singing and swaying into each other’s hearts and minds and even though this would be our last night together, the memories we made will last a lifetime.
It’s funny how a night at House of Yes can make such a lasting impression. How many places can you say you’ve gone to that made such an impact on how you carry yourself on a daily basis?
